  • Class act helped my family through a difficult time with grace and understanding. They have a large chapel connected to the viewing area. Locally owned and operated for generations.

One sometimes wonders if older is better but, not necessarily true all the time. Rogers and Breece Funeral Home a older established funeral home was suppose to be the best but I beg to differ. From my recent contact it is one of the most unprofessional funeral homes I have ever come into contact with. I went into the funeral home to speak to them about possibly using their services. The entire time I was in the room with the funeral director repeatedly outside the door the language used was unbearable to hear at a funeral home or any where. The profanity used was just so shocking . The funeral director not one time apologized. When finished speaking to him I bluntly asked him who was the gentleman there talking which was the voice I heard earlier and it was the owner he said. While walking out I heard several people in a front office both men and women talking strong sexual comments among themselves but, when they noticed I was there it ceased. I had already made the decision that this funeral is not fit to serve any family member of mine. I would not suggest this funeral home to anyone; especially when the owners act in that manner. Makes you wonder how bad their other employees are especially after hearing their conversation. We chose another funeral home in a nearby town and was highly satisfied and treated with the utmost respect and our loved one was taken care of with dignity. The only thing the funeral director was worried about was the money. Just for the record you were the highest of any funeral home I spoke to and was the most unprofessional.

We wanted to bury my brother-in-law at this funeral home, but the cost for bare minimum service was high. They wanted to lay him on a slab naked with a sheet covering him before he got cremated. They wanted to charge us $3K just to embalm him. When my mother-in-law stated she was going to be taking him to Buie Funeral Home they told her that it was a black-owned funeral home. It wasn't what they said so much as the way that they said it to her. "You know that's a black funeral home, right?" (This is a quote from my mother-in-law). I don't know if you can see my picture, but I am black and, while my in-laws are white, they found this extremely offensive. Also, I'm sure they see a lot of black business so I don't understand that attitude. We still paid about $200 for them transporting him from the hospital to the funeral home. That was average price for this area.

I was shocked at how unprofessional this funeral home handled my father-in-laws arrangements. My mother-in-law told them exactly what she wanted and it seems they didn't really take note. First they over charged her and her pastor had to confront them on the charges to be reduced. He was being cremated and we were told that until they get the death certificate he could not be cremated, we found out that the information was not sent to the doctor but somewhere else so unfortunately we had to get involved to resolve this before the funeral. Then on the day his obituary was in the paper and on there web site we realized that the request for there to be donations to the church instead of flowers was not even listed, but on their site a pop up was shown to donate flowers and you could order through them. This was all so upsetting to my family, terrible to put a family through such heartache at a time like this. It has been decided that for any family services like this needed in the future will not be with Rogers and Breece! Save yourself and family added heartache don't use them.

My wife Deanna did a very detailed review about our experience, very poor. I would suggest you check other funeral homes before you make a decision. I can say there was a lot of incompetence. We had to follow up on so much stuff they should have made sure was done. Thk goodness our church wanted to check the cost and determined we had been overcharged almost 2500 dollars. A particular agreement that the senior funeral director was apparently unaware of. Hard to understand huh. I can say we do not plan to use again nor can we recommend them. Suggest you look elsewhere
