  • As a military brat and now a military spouse, it's unusual to have a church to call home, but Holy Trinity is indeed my church home. Holy Trinity is welcome and inviting to all. There is a place for everyone and multiple ministries that anyone will find inviting. My son also attends the preschool and I could not be any more pleased. The teachers are accommodating and understanding and the setting is small enough that children do feel overwhelmed. Imagination is encouraged and children are allowed to mature at their own pace. The day we have to leave here will be a sad day. I wish everyone could find a home like Holy Trinity wherever they are stationed, it makes the transient life that is the military, so much easier.

Military families, be careful when choosing a school for your child in Fayetteville. Holy Trinity had a good reputation when I enrolled my children there. I wish I had dug deeper. My son had been acting out during a 1.5 year long deployment, and the school did nothing to help him redirect or change his behavior, or give me helpful strategies to work with them.

The headmaster, Ms. Ruth Gillis' only response was to threaten suspension because she anticipated complaints from the other families. I received inappropriate, pejorative feedback. For my son's biting problem, Ms. Gillis recommended I give him a dog bone.

Of note were my son's teachers who were, to be fair, acting in good faith to help my son redirect and improve his behavior. Good leadership and practice comes from the top. Sad to see this is not the case at Holy Trinity Episcopal. Military families, look elsewhere.

  • This church is a friendly and open place. We were new to Fayetteville, and made to feel welcome on our very first visit. Now we've been members for 5 years, and very happy here.

  • I can't say enough good things about this preschool. We had the opposite experience to that one reviewer who said they were not supportive to military families and deployments. Mrs. Gillis has been nothing but supportive to us and she very obviously cares about the students and their families. The teachers are excellent and proactive and very smart. My only regret is that we won't be in Fayetteville long enough for my son to attend there too!

  • My daughter began attending Holy Trinity Preschool at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church as a two-year-old and has been there for 3 years. It is a marvelous program. They focus on learning that is developmentally appropriate for each individual child. My daughter has developed a genuine love of learning through her time there. She is excited to go to school everyday and is sad if she has to miss a day. They are fabulous at re-directing misbehavior. My daughter had a child in her class that was prone to biting other children. The school's teachers and director were extremely patient with the child, working with him on this issue by re-directing him and teaching him more appropriate ways to deal with his frustration while at the same time keeping the other children safe. I am so pleased with the program that I have enrolled my son in the two-year-old program in the fall. The school has had the reputation as being one of the best preschools in Fayetteville for over 50 years, and it is easy to see that it still ranks as the best.
